Wentworth, the Logie Award Winner for Most Popular Drama Series and Most Outstanding Drama Series in 2018 returns for its highly anticipated seventh season. Foxtel has announced the premiere of Wentworth this coming May 28, exclusive on FOX Showcase. Expect a fiery opening to this ten-episode season, especially given the blood finale of season 6.
This new season finds fan-favourite characters on the brink of imploding with the impending confrontation between the two emerging titans, Rita and Marie. And if that’s not enough, Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, has confirmed that this new installment will push boundaries even further with its bold storytelling and compelling performances of its dynamic ensemble. Don’t miss the first episode of Wentworth’s season 7 when it premieres on Tuesday, May 28 at 8:30pm, exclusively on Fox Showcase. Check out the newly released trailer below:
What’s in store for Wentworth Season 7?
In addition to Rita and Marie’s imminent fiery confrontation, a significantly pregnant Vera and her co-conspirators in the Freak’s demise (Will and Jake) are off the hook for now with the case of Joan Ferguson presumably closed. On the other hand, Liz’s on-set of dementia finds her holding on to any semblance of hope, while Boomer deals with the what remains of her broken family.
This season will also see Wentworth’s eclectic mix of misfits on the verge of being permanently fractured as the powers of love, deception, and revenge threaten to take over. Given that, it seems protection will be the overarching theme of this latest season — with even the noblest of characters becoming morally compromised in their mission to take care of the people they love, lest there be deadly consequences.

It’s everyone’s guess as to what will happen, or more importantly, who will ultimately win the battle #ForTheThrone in Westeros. New episodes air live every Monday on Foxtel’s FOX Showcase. Kick it off Foxtel Now’s 10-day free trial offer to get instant access to all previous episodes from seasons 1 to 3 of True Detective.
Orange Is The New Black
Wentworth and Orange Is The New Black have a lot in common. For one, they’re both female prison shows that aired their respective premieres back in 2013. While Wentworth portrays a grittier picture of female life in prison, Orange Is the New Black can be just as gritty while also being humorous at times. There’s also a lot on the line with season 6 showing the full consequences of the riot that ensued in the finale of season 5. Episodes from seasons 1 to 6 of OITNB are already available for streaming on Netflix, with the seventh and final season bound to air sometime soon this year.
