While Robin Roberts Presents: I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story has its heart in the right place, it sometimes feels like a standard biopic formula. The film hits the expected notes of triumph and struggle but lacks a deeper exploration of Gaynor's complexities. The lead performance shines, especially during musical numbers, but some emotional scenes feel rushed, leaving viewers yearning for more depth. The direction by Alicia K. Harris is competent but doesn't stray far from convention. For fans of Gaynor's music, it's a delightful celebration, yet those seeking a more nuanced narrative might find it falls short. Overall, it’s an enjoyable watch but may not leave a lasting impact.
