The highly anticipated revival of the award-winning HBO series, Sex and the City, will have its global premiere this December. Sex and the City premiered in 1998 and concluded in 2004 after six seasons. The characters then reprised their roles in 2008 and 2010, this time on the cinematic screen with two feature films. Over a decade later, Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda will once again grace our screens with their fun and outrageous sense of style, humour, and attitude as they navigate the new chapter of their lives.
And Just Like That… TV series preview
Love and friendship are tough to deal with when you’re in your 30s. Fans met Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte during this period of their lives as they took on the conundrums of New York City and life in general. While the show’s storylines combined romance, drama, and comedy, the Sex and the City story also tackled timely social issues, many of them delivered in brilliant and hilarious one-liners.
Nearly two decades after the events of Sex and the City’s final season, Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda are back with an even more complicated reality to face, because age and sage may rhyme with each other but they don’t make it any easier. And so with new realities presented to them brought by the changing times, And Just Like That… will tell an honest story about how it is to be a woman in her 50s in New York City.
It should be noted that the revival series won’t include Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), but will introduce fresh faces starting with Sara Ramirez as Che Diaz, a non-binary, queer stand-up comedian with a big presence and progressive views on gender roles. Beloved characters like Chris Noth’s Mr. Big will also return with no information yet on whether he’ll be a major part of the revival’s storyline or not. Set to premiere in December this year, And Just Like That… will comprise of 10 half-hour episodes with the first titled “Hello It’s Me”.
Being a huge revival event on television, it will be interesting to see how And Just Like That… will progress from its decades-ago Sex and the City style and narrative without compromising the show’s original charm and appeal. True fans, however, won’t miss this occasion simply because it’s always invigorating to see Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte walk the streets of New York City with exuding confidence. That and their shoes, and handbags. Their entire closets, really.
And Just Like That… cast
HBO Max announced that the Sex and the City revival will have original cast members Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon reprising their roles, without the character of Kim Cattrall, Samantha Jones. Chris Noth will also make an appearance as Mr. Big. Michael Patrick King, Julie Rottenberg, and Elisa Zuritsky will serve as executive producers. King will also direct the pilot episode.
