Sport is an essential part of life for many Australians. For most of us, we consider having the ability to watch live sports to be more of a right than a luxury. Fortunately, there are plenty of sport streaming options available which enable us to do just that, from Australia’s best sports streaming service Kayo Sports, to Fetch TV, BeIN Sports, Foxtel Now and NBA and NFL Live Passes.

The best streaming services to watch live sport – stream or catch up

These days live sport streaming only requires an eligible device and an internet connection. In many cases, you’ll be able to check out most sports streaming providers with a handy free trial before committing to any type of plan.

Kayo Sports

Kayo Sports is a leader in sports streaming in Australia, and offers a key point of difference to many of its competitors – you pay for sports, and nothing else. Offering every channel available with Fox Sport – which amounts to over 50 different events and competitions – you can access Kayo Sports for as little as $25/month.

That means that you can watch every game from every round of both AFL and NRL (excluding the final), as well as Formula 1, Supercars, NFL, NBA, international cricket, football and much more.

If you are a Telstra customer, you may be eligible for monthly Kayo Sports discounts as well, check out our page on the Telstra Kayo deal to see. Alternatively, Kayo offers a 7 day free trial for all new customers.

From a sporting perspective, this means that with the right package you can get access to all the high-quality sport available on Foxtel – from AFL, NRL and the summer of cricket to the biggest sports from the USA like the NBA, NFL and MLB – and stream it directly to a wide range of compatible devices. All you need is an internet connection and you’re ready to go. New Foxtel Now customers get a free 10 day trial.

Alternatively, Telstra customers can claim Foxtel Now from Telstra and enjoy a month of free trial with access to all channel packs, including Sports.

With Foxtel from Telstra, you can get the Sports HD + Foxtel Plus Package for significantly less than with Foxtel for your first 12 months.

DAZN

A giant of the live sport stream world in its native UK as well as the US and Canada, DAZN has been one of the success stories of the increasingly competitive world of sports streaming. Their arrival in Australia, a market where Kayo Sports dominates, is a risky one – they’ve decided to launch with boxing as their sole sport. That makes sense because DAZN owns the global streaming rights to some of the biggest boxing organisations, including Matchroom Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions.

Catch-up TV is nothing else than a traditional TV programme available online for you to catch up. Prime examples of catch-up TV available in Australia are ABC’s iView, Seven’s Plus7, and SBS On Demand.

Which Pay TV is the best?

It depends on many factors – the region you live in, your NBN connection, and most of all the capabilities of your wallet.
