Streaming A-League in Australia

The A-League now features 12 teams. This is thanks to the addition of Macarthur FC, who were only one game away from making the final in their debut season. The team that went all the way in 2021 was Melbourne City, winning their first championship of what is sure to many.

The 2021/22 league season is expected to get underway in October and run through to the middle of 2022. The early favourites are champions Melbourne City and fellow 2021 finalists, Sydney FC. They are sure to be pushed again by Macarther FC as well as the likes of Central Coast and Brisbane.

Rights for the A-League are set to change hands for the new campaign thanks to a new $200 million broadcast deal in Australia. Find out which provider has these rights and how to watch every A-League game live with their service below.

How to watch A-League in Australia

Paramount Plus and Network Ten will have exclusive rights to A-League football from 2021-2026 in Australia. Paramount Plus is one of the country’s latest sports streaming services and will show every game from every round live including the Grand Final. It has not yet been confirmed whether or not there will be other sports available to stream with Paramount Plus at this time.

One game per round will also be broadcast live on free to air with Ten. This means that you will no longer be able to watch A-League with Fox Sports (Foxtel/Kayo) or on free to air with ABC.

Stream A-League on Paramount Plus

Paramount Plus is the new home of everything A-League in Australia. The streaming service is set to arrive in Australia in August 2021 and will cost $8.99 per month. Although it has not yet confirmed whether or not a free trial will be in place for Paramount Plus, there is expected to be some kind of deal in place so that fans can save money whilst watching A-League.

Stream A-League on free-to-air

As Paramount own Ten and TenPlay in Australia, these Freeview options will be the home of free to air A-League in Australia. One game from every round will be broadcast live so that fans don’t necessarily have to pay a cent to get their weekly dose of football action.

Stream A-League replays on demand

Sometimes games can air at awkward times whilst you’re out working or socialising. But, now more than ever it’s easy to catch up on highlights or replays of games well after the final whistle.

Thanks to On Demand replays you can just touch a button on your Paramount Plus or TenPlay app and relive all the action as if it were going out live. Paramount Plus will have extended highlights of every match across the season weeks after the game ends, so you can stay properly up to date with your favourite team’s performances.

How to stream A-League for free

At the time of writing the only way you will be able to get free access to A-League games is via the weekly free to air option on Ten. If you like the idea of streaming football whilst on the move, this weekly fixture will be available to stream fee via TenPlay.

Best to teams to watch in A-League

There may be 12 teams in the A-League in total, but there is only a handful who provide title-winning form throughout the season. Check out who they are here.

Melbourne City

Melbourne City has close ties with Manchester City, a team backed by big finance. They were only introduced to the A-League in 2009, but have made some big strides since. Melbourne City plays all their home games at the AAMI Park in Melbourne and have a squad that features players like Jamie Maclaren and Craig Noone.

Sydney FC

The most successful team in the history of A-League in Sydney FC. They have won a total of 5 Grand Finals and finished up runners up to Melbourne City in 2021. Led by Steve Corica, they play all their home games at the Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.

Macarthur FC

The latest addition to the A-League family has been Macarthur FC. They entered the completion last year and made it all the way to the semi-finals. They play all their home games at the Campbelltown Stadium and have become everyone’s favourite underdog.

Brisbane Roar

The pride of football in Queensland is Brisbane Roar. They have won three A-League titles and thanks to coach Warren Moon they are on the right path to win more. They play all their home games at the Dolphin Oval and have a strong team that includes the likes of Riku Danzaki and Dylan Wenzel-Halls.
