In Guilt, a mystery thriller with strong elements of dark comedy, Mark Bonnar and Jamie Sives play two brothers entangled in a hit and run as a result of a drunken drive home from a wedding. Choosing to cover up the crime, their lives grow more complicated with challenges and twists arising from one to the next. And it’s all because of one thing that proves to be impossible to escape from – guilt.

Guilt TV show preview
Brothers Max and Jake accidentally run over and kill an elderly man, Walter, in a residential street. Fearing accountability, and also because they’re stoned and uninsured, they decide to conceal the catastrophe they’ve inflicted by coming up with an outrageous cover-up.
As expected, Max and Jake learn the hard way that trying to bury a crime comes with disastrous repercussions. While they hope that Walter’s death will be identified as natural causes, his family and friends sense that something’s off. Ironically, Max hires a private detective to alleviate the doubts of Walter’s niece, Angie. Jake’s burgeoning relationship with Angie also screams bad timing.
Making the brothers even more anxious is Walter’s neighbor, Sheila, who claims she witnessed something during the night of the crime. Intent on maintaining their lies and pretending they’ve nothing to do with it, they end up committing more serious crimes to hide their culpability.
Receiving wide acclaim from critics and viewers alike, Guilt returned for Season 2. The second season was set two years later with a disbarred Max released from prison. While he tried to rebuild his life, his entanglement in the Lynch crime family made it harder for him to do so. Still, Max and Jake managed to get out and escape from the Lynch family, seeking refuge in Chicago.
In Guilt Season 3, the brothers attempt to start new, trouble-free lives in Chicago, only for financial woes taking a drastic turn and transporting them back to where it all began. Once in Edinburgh, old enemies resurface and the brothers inability to avoid bad luck have them gaining new ones.
Guilt, a BBC Scotland and BBC Two drama, is written and created by Neil Forsyth. As per usual, the third and final series continues with its twists and turns and endless deception.

In Australia, the four-episode new season of Guilt started streaming online on Foxtel and Foxtel Now from 25 June 2023. New episodes also dropped on BINGE at once on 16 July.

Guilt has been confirmed to have three seasons only. The first season premiered in 2019, with the series returning for a second instalment in 2021, then coming back for a final third season in 2023.
