Paramount+ is ushering Grease back to the screens in the form of the Pink Ladies. Exploring the group’s untold origin story brings Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies to fruition, a prequel series to the first two Grease films. It is set four years before the events of the original Grease, introducing us to the original girl gang who dared to have fun the only way they know how – music, mayhem, and defying the norms.

Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies preview
The year is 1954. T-Birds aren’t super cool yet, and rock and roll still rough on the edges. Enter four misfit students who are regularly reminded of how a girl’s reputation is all she has. It is not all she has.
Fed up, they band together, exploring the spoils of youth and slowly understanding what it means to have fun on their own terms. This only instigates a moral panic that’s bound to change Rydell High forever. As a result of their self-exploration and expression, they become the founding mothers of the first high school clique that we now know as the Pink Ladies.
Rise of the Pink Ladies is created by Annabel Oakes based on the musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. It stars rising talents Marisa Davila as Jane, Cheyenne Isabel Wells as Olivia, Ari Notartomaso as Cynthia, and Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy. Oakes also executive produces alongside Marty Bowen and Erik Feig.

The 10-episode musical series will premiere on streaming TV via Paramount+ on 7th April 2023 with new episodes dropping weekly on the streaming service.
