Better TV series preview

Better is a new BBC drama that examines the power of human conscience through DI Lou Slack’s epic battle towards redemption. After being part of the criminal underworld for so long, she longs to turn her life around and start anew. To correct her wrongs, she must bring down Col McHugh, the leader of the criminal organisation she has been working for and the man she treats like her own brother.

She met McHugh when she was a young police officer and he was a newcomer to the Leeds underworld. Forming a relationship, their complex but special bond became the contributing force that began Lou’s gradual slide into corruption. Together, they’ve helped each other rise through the ranks where McHugh eventually becomes the leader of the Leeds criminal underworld.

But while he is a force to be reckoned with, Lou’s biggest battle is with herself, making for a compelling narrative that examines the complexities of loyalty and family. Created by Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, Better stars Leila Farzad and Andrew Buchan as Lou Slack and Col Mchugh, respectively.
