Hotel Portofino was an instant hit when it premiered in 2022, revolving around a wealthy British family, the Ainsworths, and set against the historical backdrop of the rise of fascism in Benito Mussolini’s Italy.

Seeking a fresh start, they open a charming hotel in the town of Portofino. Ultimately, the quintessentially British hotel becomes filled with guests, their baggage, and questionable agendas.

The events in the first season put a strain on Bella (Natascha McElhone) and Cecil Ainsworth’s (Mark Umbers) marriage, instigated by the missing Ainsworth family heirloom and Bella’s compromising letters.

Even with the mystery of the missing heirloom resolved by the end of season 1 and his supposedly grand gesture, Cecil’s attempt at reconciliation fared poorly.

In Hotel Portofino Season 2, Cecil’s shady business dealings only generated more troubles for Bella. Worse, his recklessness affected Hotel Portofino’s future, placing the entire Ainsworth family relations at breaking point.

As the Ainsworths returns for a third season, we’ll see an estranged Bella and Cecil reuniting by necessity. Complications further arise with Cecil inheriting his father’s title, which entails a massive inheritance tax to settle. Bella, meanwhile, relishes her newfound freedom and is thinking of pursuing her own beauty line.

Guests at the hotel have their own predicaments to resolve as well, with one particular guest plotting to get the ultimate revenge. There’s more drama and intrigue to unpack in Hotel Portofino‘s third season, which finally arrives in Australia next week.

Series creator Matt Baker returns as the writer for all six episodes in season 3, while Jo McGrath and Walter Iuzzolino serve as executive producers.

The trailer for season 3 hasn’t been released yet. In the meantime, you can watch the trailer for Hotel Portofino Season 2.

The hit TV series is a collaboration between Eagle Eye Drama, ITV, and BritBox and stars Natascha McElhone as lead character Bella Ainsworth.
