DMZ DC show

Another comic book adaptation premiered on television with the TV series, DMZ. It is based on the DC comic series of the same name by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli, which follows a demilitarized Manhattan amidst the Second American Civil War.

Rosario Dawson headlines this dystopian drama as Alma, a medic who’s also searching for her lost son. Its title, DMZ, stands for “demilitarized zone”, depicting the state of chaos and violence New York City is in during a bitter civil war. Announced as a limited series, DMZ premieres in Australia this March. Find out how you can stream episodes of this new dystopian thriller series in this guide.

What’s in this Guide?

In a near-future America, a devastating Second Civil War changes the course of the country, setting its path towards a grim and hopeless future. Manhattan Island is in a shambles and becomes demilitarized as a result. As people are left scrambling in a war-torn NYC with no order and justice of any kind, Alma, a medic, rises through the horrors of her harrowing journey and becomes a symbol of hope. But what she really wants more than anything else is to be reunited with the son she lost during the evacuation of New York City.

Alma will be played by Rosario Dawson, with the character possibly based in part on the original comic book’s Zee Hernandez, a medical student intent on lending help any way she can. Dawson will be joined by Benjamin Bratt as Parco Delgado. As he’s directly sourced from the comics, we know that he’s a fearsome leader of one of the most powerful gangs in the DMZ who also has the utmost desire to rule the new world. Encouraging him is Carmen, his fearless and fiery partner.

Compared to other comic book adaptations, DMZ won’t be as predictable with plenty of mystery to uncover as the story progresses. Ava DuVernay (When They See Us) is the executive producer with Roberto Patino, alongside Warner Bros. Television. Ernest Dickerson, known for directing hit shows like The Walking Dead and Godfather of Harlem, will also direct and executive produce three episodes. Starring Rosario Dawson, Benjamin Bratt, Hoon Lee and Jordan Preston Carter, check out the complete cast of DMZ below.
