What’s in this Guide?

Raised by Wolves Season 2 picked up where the season 1 finale left off. Mother gives birth but it’s not the child she expects her creator had given her. Then a Mithraic ship full of atheists is seen flying over the planet, which only entails further trouble ahead. Overall, there’s not much information on what the new season will bring on the table. Fans will just have to wait and see.

Raised By Wolves was created by Aaron Guzikowski and with Ridley Scott (Alien, Gladiator) as an executive producer, who also directed the first two episodes. It has the budget and all the hallmarks of a Hollywood blockbuster, with great CGI effects and a stellar cast.

The original cast reprised their roles for season two, including Travis Fimmel, Amanda Collin, Abubakar Salim, Winta McGrath, Niamh Algar, and many others.

Raised by Wolves Season 1 recap

This sci-fi narrative focuses on two androids who are tasked with raising human children on an uninhabited, mysterious planet after a monumental war completely destroys Earth. The great war fought between militant atheists and the Mithraic, a radical religious order that worships the sun god Sol, wiped out any remnants of life on Earth. The androids, named Mother and Father, escaped and with them are human embryos to begin a new civilisation on the new planet, Kepler-22b. Two decades later, only one child survives, Campion.

When a Mithraic vessel arrives on the new planet, Mother responds by destroying it, but not before taking with her five surviving Mithraic children—Tempest, Paul, Hunter, Holly, and Vita, so that the synthetic parents are now raising six human children. Surviving the vessel’s destruction are Marcus and Sue, who reunite with other Mithraic survivors despite having a startling secret of their own.

But as history has shown time and again, humanity is not without conflicts. As the children grow older, the new colony develops differences in both politics and religion. The androids slowly realise that trying to control the beliefs of the human race is both a treacherous and difficult task, and fear they will eventually lose control. As the androids struggle to keep everything in line, Mother is distracted by intense feelings, something she wasn’t aware she was capable of feeling.

The first season of Raised by Wolves was absolutely explosive as Mother and Father discover that the planet they are on houses dark secrets. More shocking discoveries come to light, making it more complex for the android parents to keep the children safe.

In the latter part of the first season, Mother believes she’s malfunctioning, only to find out that she’s carrying a child – another mystery that needs deciphering. But with its slow-burn narrative, we’ve come to know two factions and spend half a season preparing and setting the stage for the ultimate face-off between humans and the machines, and something else in between.
