Nearly a decade after the release of Kung Fu Panda 3, Jack Black’s Po returns for another fantastical adventure in Kung Fu Panda 4.

From being the Dragon Warrior, Po must now become the spiritual leader of the Valley of Peace, which means he needs to properly meditate and channel his inner peace without thinking about dinner. Taking on a new higher calling also means that he should be on the lookout for the next ultimate warrior, one who’s worthy as his replacement.

But before he can do all that, a new threat emerges in the form of a sorceress chameleon, who seeks to steal Po’s Staff of Wisdom to bring back all the master villains and take their kung fu powers for herself.

In this latest entry into the Kung Fu Panda franchise, Po (Jack Black) has a new purpose he must fulfil – to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace. While he enjoys using his martial arts skills as the super awesome Dragon Warrior, he’s now tasked to pass the torch to someone else.

But before he can find someone as awesome as him, a villainous sorceress named The Chameleon (Viola Davis) emerges with the goal of acquiring more power to rule the lands.

In order to do this, she must get her hands on Po’s Staff of Wisdom, which holds the power to summon all the master villains, including Tai Lung, and take all their powers.

To thwart The Chameleon’s evil schemes, Po needs some help, which he sort of gets from Zhen (Awkwafina), a fox who’s also a wanted thief with invaluable fighting skills but  questionable intentions. Together, they fight to ensure Valley of Peace restores its villain-free status.

The new DreamWorks Animation film is directed by Mike Mitchell (Trolls, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part) from a screenplay penned by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, and Darren Lemke.
