★★★★★4/5
Dog Man is a delightful entry into the realm of animated family films, successfully merging action and comedy with a heartwarming story. Directed by Peter Hastings, the film introduces us to a unique premise: a police officer and his beloved dog are fused together after a near-fatal incident. This inventive blend of man and beast allows for a fresh exploration of themes such as identity, loyalty, and friendship. The animation is vibrant and engaging, with a visual style that captures the whimsical nature of the story. The voice performances, particularly the lead, bring a charming energy that resonates throughout the film. While the plot may not be groundbreaking and occasionally veers into predictable territory, it is packed with humour and moments that will resonate with both children and adults. Overall, Dog Man is a fun, family-friendly film that stands out for its originality and positive messages.

★★★★★3/5
Dog Man is a quirky and fun film that offers a unique twist on the superhero genre. The concept of merging a police officer with his dog is both amusing and creative, making for some laugh-out-loud moments. However, while the film has its heart in the right place, it sometimes feels like it's trying a bit too hard to appeal to younger audiences. The villain, Petey the Cat, is entertaining but lacks depth, leaving some of the stakes feeling a bit low. The animation is colourful and engaging, perfect for keeping kids entertained, but adults may find themselves wishing for a bit more substance in the storytelling. Overall, Dog Man is enjoyable but may not leave a lasting impression beyond its initial charm. It's a decent watch for families but doesn't quite reach the heights of other animated classics.
