Icons: Unearthed is a TV series that unveils the secret histories of the most iconic film and television series. The first season focuses on the most successful science fiction franchise ever – Star Wars.
In each episode, we get to know the creative minds behind every Star Wars movie and the journey taken to complete production, including major setbacks that nearly threatened the films coming into being.
In addition to interviews featuring Anthony Daniels, Paul Hirsch, Roger Christian, Billy Dee Williams, Phil Tippett, Rick Baker, and many more, George Lucas’ ex-wife Marcia also discusses her Oscar-winning co-editing of the first Star Wars film.
Icons Unearthed director and producer Brian Volk-Weiss scored this rare interview with Marcia, who’s known to decline interviews and refuse to be on camera. For this, Volk-Weiss travelled to Hawaii to get her unique insight, as well as her ideas and experiences during the movie’s production.
Aside from Icons Unearthed, Volk-Weiss also created the shows The Toys That Made Us and The Movies That Made Us, all of which tap into our fascination with pop culture. Icons Unearthed: Star Wars consists of six episodes, each exploring the Star Wars films from Episode I to VI.

How many seasons of Icons Unearthed?
Two seasons of Icons Unearthed have aired on VICE TV so far with the first season focusing on the Star Wars franchise. The second season explores the iconic animated series The Simpsons, and is set to premiere in Australia on 8th February 2023. Season 3 is currently in production and is reported to explore the Fast and Furious franchise. Both seasons 1 and 2 are currently available to stream in Australia.
