Created by comedian Alex Horne, Taskmaster is a smash-hit game show presented by Horne himself and Greg Davies. Hilarious and wildly entertaining, it follows five celebrities as they attempt to complete all sorts of eccentric and ridiculous tasks. Horne acts as umpire while Davies plays the titular role, judging the work in every challenge and giving out points based on performances.

Since its premiere in 2015, Taskmaster has proven to be a successful undertaking, spawning international versions including an Australian version, Taskmaster Australia, which premiered earlier this year.

But first, UK’s Taskmaster Season 16 is now streaming in Australia, plus the grander New Year’s Special 2024 is also coming to your screens first thing next year.

What is Taskmaster (UK) about?

Following Taskmaster Season 15, which featured comedians Frankie Boyle, Ivo Graham, Jenny Eclair, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, and Mae Martin, the smash-hit panel game show returns for a brand new instalment.

Of course, Taskmaster Greg Davies is back as the titular headliner. Alongside his loyal sidekick, Little Alex Horne, they’re set out to discover the new champion by testing the contestants’ skills and ingenuity.

Interestingly, they achieve this by coming up with the most outrageous tasks, which include long-distance painting, making the best extension to the Taskmaster house, making a music video for a nursery rhyme – the list indulgently goes on!

Apparently, the game series doesn’t run out of the funniest and most ruthless ideas for Britain’s various line-up of comedians to pull off.

For its sixteenth season, contestants featured in the show are: Julian Clary, Lucy Beaumont, Sam Campbell, Sue Perkins and Susan Wokoma. For the team tasks in season 16, the team of three comprises Clary, Beaumont and Campbell, with the team of two consisting of Perkins and Wokoma.

A huge fan of the outrageously fun show? Fortunately, the new episodes from Taskmaster Season 16 are now available on streaming. There’s also the brand-new New Year’s Special you don’t want to miss.

Cast of Taskmaster

Greg Davies and Alex Horne remain as the show’s presenters. Horne is also the series creator and executive producer alongside Richard Allen-Turner, James Taylor, and Andy Devonshire (also the series director). The show’s theme music was also written and performed by The Horne Section, a jazz band led by Horne himself.

Throughout the years, the series has featured mainly comedians to perform tasks and games, including James Acaster, John Kearns, and Mo Farah, just to name a few.

In Taskmaster Season 16, fans will be delighted to meet the five comedians all geared up to receive their first task. They are: Julian Clary, Lucy Beaumont, Sam Campbell, Sue Perkins, and Susan Wokoma.

Meanwhile, the cast for Taskmaster‘s New Year Treat 2024 have been confirmed to be the following:

  • Deborah Meaden
  •  Kojey Radical
  • Lenny Rush
  • Steve Backshall
  • Zoe Ball
