What is the plot of Law & Order?

In New York City, detectives and prosecutors work alongside each other to solve cases that are often based on real-life headlines. Every episode comprises two parts – solving a crime and determining the culprit. After a suspect is apprehended, the ball is now on the court of the prosecutors as they build a case for conviction.

Joining forces using their respective expertise, both teams navigate every side of the criminal justice system, unveiling its multiple layers and complexities. Their exposure to horrendous crimes and the laborious prosecution may be taking a toll on their personal lives, but the men and women of Law and Order do right by the people of the city by putting the worst criminals in prison where they belong.

Season 21 and 22 also included crossover episodes featuring Captain Olivia Benson, Detective Amanda Rollins, Chief Tommy McGrath, and Assistant District Attorney Dominick Carisi Jr. from Special Victims Unit. Detective Elliot Stabler and Detective Jet Slootmaekers from Organized Crime also made an appearance in season 22.
