The Baby

A new horror comedy, The Baby, is now available for streaming on demand in Australia. It follows a woman who unexpectedly lands a baby, literally, after she’s made her feelings clear that she doesn’t want one. The only dilemma is that despite being incredibly cute, the baby is manipulative and powerful, making it impossible to get her old life back – one that doesn’t involve nappies and strollers. An intriguing premise combining menace and dark humour, find out how to watch the new series here.

What’s in this Guide?

Natasha is a 38-year old woman who finds the idea of motherhood overwhelming and unappealing. She’s already bothered that all of her closest friends are having babies of their own, but it seems that the universe wants her to have one too when she’s unexpectedly landed with a baby. With the infant landing right on her arms, the baby twists Natasha’s life in so many ways unimaginable.

As her life dramatically implodes, she attempts to return to her old self by being baby-free. However, she learns that the little person actually possesses violent powers and will do everything in its might to never leave her side. Natasha might not want a baby, but the baby has already made up its mind. With the baby’s deadly nature, Natasha resorts to increasingly desperate attempts to get rid of it – to no avail.

A surreal horror show, The Baby is co-executive produced by Robins-Grace, Jane Featherstone, Carolyn Strauss, Naomi de Pear, and Katie Carpenter. Meanwhile, Siân Robins-Grace and Lucy Gaymer serve as the program creators, which is also a co-production between HBO, Sky Atlantic, Sister Pictures, and Proverbial Pictures.

The Baby stars Michelle de Swarte (The Duchess) as the lead protagonist, Amira Ghazalla (The Rhythm Section) as Mrs. Eaves, a mysterious 70-year-old woman who appears to have a baffling connection with the baby, and Amber Grappy as Bobbi, Natasha’s younger sister. Additional stars have also been cast, including Patrice Naiambana (Spectre) as Natasha’s father Lyle and Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education) as Helen.
