The success of the latest Dune movies has paved the way for the exploration of this intricate universe with Dune: Prophecy, an upcoming series that’s set 10,000 years before Paul Atreides.

Following the cinematic spectacle that is Dune: Part Two, HBO is giving us another likely small screen top pick with Dune: Prophecy. With this, the Dune franchise expands and rightfully so with the combined earnings of Dune movies now reaching over $1 billion.

If you’re a huge Dune fan and you can’t wait to see the third movie, this prequel set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet in the movie) will continue to immerse you in the captivating universe of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed sci-fi novel.

HBO has finally announced the release date for Dune: Prophecy, finally happening on 18 November in Australia, with new episodes launching on streaming TV weekly.

It has been confirmed that the Dune prequel series exploring the origins of the formidable Bene Gesserit will run for six episodes.

A thousand decades ago, before the events of the 2021 film and its 2024 sequel, the Harkonnen sisters Valya and Tula contend with a colossal threat to humanity by establishing a sect that will, in due course, become the Bene Gesserit sisterhood.

In the Dune universe, the sisterhood has great power and influence over social, religious, and even political matters, allowing them to guide humanity to achieve better societies. However, as per the trailer, “power comes with a price”, which darkly hints that they may have made a great deal of sacrifices to get to where they are now and how their purpose may have been warped for their own gain.

Their superhuman abilities, which appear magical to outsiders, are acquired through years and years of physical and mental conditioning. It is through their powers that they have catapulted themselves as advisors to leaders of the Great Houses, allowing them to influence the way of the Imperium.

Dune: Prophecy, which is inspired by the novel Sisterhood Dune, will delve into the roots of the powerful and mystical Bene Gesserit 10,000 years before Paul Atreides’ reign. The novel was penned by Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert, original author Frank Herbert’s son.
