Amazon launches Prime Video Channels in Australia

In the age of streaming TV, it’s not unusual for any TV and movie enthusiast to subscribe to more than one service. You’d want your exclusive access to content as wide-ranging as possible; so Amazon’s announcement of 12 additional channels you can subscribe to via your Prime membership is an option that bears relevance. Called Prime Video Channels, it has previously been launched in the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Brazil, Austria, India, Italy, Japan, Canada, Mexico, France, and Spain.

Amazon unveiled 12 Prime Video Channels, six of which are new to Australia. With this launch, streaming TV customers can now sign up for more streaming apps via their Prime membership. The new channels you can subscribe to are Paramount+, hayu, STARZPLAY, AMC+, MGM, Acorn TV, Shudder, OUTtv, The Great Courses, iwonder, DocPlay, and Love Nature.

Paramount+, hayu, Acorn TV, Shudder, iwonder, and DocPlay are already available in Australia, while this marks the first time that STARZPLAY, AMC+, MGM, OUTtv, The Great Courses, and Love Nature debut in the country. For those who have been wanting to check out these apps prior to its availability in Australia, Amazon Prime’s new streaming option is good news. Each of this app also includes a 7-day free trial.

Amazon Prime Video alone offers tens of thousands of movies and over 2,000 TV shows. The additional channels only mean instant access to tens of thousands of paramount content through your Amazon Prime membership. It would cost about $75 per month should you subscribe to all 12 of them.

Get a 30-Day Free Trial!

Experience the best from Amazon Prime including Prime Video, Amazon Music, Prime Gaming, Prime Reading, free shipping, a 7-day free trial on beIN Sports, and more special deals. All these for only $9.99/month after the first month!

The streaming apps remain as standalone services and only serve as an option for customers who want to explore more TV shows and movies, so they’re not included in your Amazon Prime subscription. Amazon Prime also doesn’t offer any discounts even if you sign up to any of these streaming services via their platform, only a 7-day free trial for all 12 apps.

Another benefit you can get from this is that you’ll be able to subscribe, access, and manage third-party streaming apps through your Amazon login, which simplifies the process of accessing multiple streaming apps.

As mentioned, there aren’t any discounts that could amount to savings even when you add more streaming apps through your Amazon account. There’s no incentive, although it seems like a possibility sometime in the future to encourage more subscriptions. While there’s no opportunity for savings, at least not yet, signing up for other services via Amazon Prime has its benefits.

Since everything is accessible using a single login, you can subscribe, stream, manage or cancel with just a single access. There’s no need to log in to separate services, which proves to be a hassle at times. Also, you can stream these apps on platforms even though they’re not natively accessible. Amazon Prime is supported on several devices, so even if a certain device is not compatible with, say Paramount+, you can still watch using that device through the Amazon Prime app.

It is important to note that you need to be an Amazon Prime customer in order to get the additional services offered. This also means that your entire access to these streaming TV on-demand apps begin and end with Amazon Prime only. So if you’re already a Paramount+ subscriber, you can’t use your Paramount+ login to sign up and watch on Amazon Prime. To sign up for another service via Amazon Prime, simply sign in to your Amazon account and choose a premium channel to subscribe to. If you’re not an Amazon Prime member yet, the service offers a 30-day free trial for new customers.
