Brisbane TV Guide: What's on TV Tonight in Brisbane

What's on TV tonight in Brisbane

As Australia heads into winter and the days get shorter, it’s the best time of the year to get on the couch in front of the TV and enjoy the latest TV shows, sports, movies, drama and comedy. There are more channels than ever to pick from in the Brisbane TV guide – and there’s a whole lot more to be found on Australia’s popular streaming services, many of which you can try out completely free.

What is on TV tonight Brisbane?

The days of there only being five channels to choose from on free to air TV are long gone – now, there’s something in the Brisbane TV guide to suit almost every member of the family. There’s a channel just for the kids, ones dedicated entirely to international movies, the latest ABC news, an SBS food channel, sport, shopping and more.

Free to air TV is where you’ll find some of the most popular shows in Australia. Whether it’s getting comfy on the couch for an evening quiz with Millionaire Hot Seat, Mastermind and The Chase Australia or keeping up with the news tonight in Brisbane on ABC News, Seven News, SBS World News or Ten’s News First, it’s right there in the Brisbane TV guide. Each free to air provider has its own free streaming services too which is worth checking out.

Australia’s love of reality TV is apparent as well – and not just for competition shows like Big Brother. Millions of Aussies tune in for Antiques Roadshow, American Pickers and the Channel 7 hit Pawn Stars just to see everyday items turn into cash.

And then there’s the massive amount of TV available via streaming services – many of which offer completely free weeks of access for you to binge your favourite shows and movies. Free To Air Brisbane TV Guide

While premium streaming services are great with their free trial offers, nothing beats free for good, especially if there’s a variety of content up for grabs. The many channels run by each main network make sure there’s plenty to watch any time of the day or night, each channel with its own theme.

For example, SBS World Movies is literally a 24-hour channel of nothing but the best Aussie and international cinematic stories, while 7flix delivers an endless stream of more mainstream options.

Nine has an entire channel devoted to life, homemaking and style, appropriately called 9Life, while Channel 10 has multiple channels in the Brisbane TV guide named after the sort of shows they offer – Peach, Bold and Shake. Seven does a similar thing with its extra channels like 7Mate, while the ABC runs ABC Kids during the day and ABC Plus in the evening, with rock music fans getting late-night Rage most days. SBS Viceland delivers challenging TV from around the world.

The great thing about having all these extra channels is the huge amount of shows you have to pick from – timeless classic comedies like Friends, Malcolm in the Middle and The Simpsons are no longer restricted to just one episode a week. A house with more than one TV may be required!

And, of course, that lets the main channels fill the TV guide with first-run stuff, from the chef showdown on Ten’s Masterchef Australia inspiring millions to cook new things, to major events like the French Open from Roland Garros on Nine (with its extra channels delivering even more coverage). Channel 9 also has supplemented its long-running hit Millionaire Hot Seat with a new version of The Weakest Link – there’s never been a better time to be a quiz fan!
