The vampire roommates in Staten Island are back in What We Do in the Shadows Season 6, the hit comedy series created by Jemaine Clement.

As per usual, Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja, energy vampire Colin, and human familiar Guillermo, deliver comical gags and outrageous antics as they face the never-ending dilemma of navigating modern life.

A spectacular show that continues to impress, the acclaimed comedy is now in its sixth season, just because it’s really fun to see mighty yet baffled centuries-old vampires visiting the mall and using coupons.

What’s in this Guide?

Season 6 of What We Do in the Shadows premiered with three episodes on 22 October on BINGE, then the following day on Foxtel and Foxtel Now. There’s one new episode arriving weekly on streaming TV after that.

The sixth season has been confirmed to air for 11 episodes, one episode longer than the previous What We Do in the Shadows Season 5.

The mockumentary based on the 2014 modern vampire movie of the same name by Clement and Taika Waititi follows the lives of four vampires, Nandor, Laszlo, and Nadja; Colin Robinson, an energy vampire; Guillermo, Nandor’s familiar; and The Guide, an envoy of the Vampiric Council. Specifically, it revolves around vampires interacting with the modern world (including some of their failed attempts) and other supernatural beings, all the while trying to experience human life.

In What We Do in the Shadows Season 5, Nandor and Guillermo’s relationship went through a rough patch, especially with the latter paying another vampire to turn him into one. Nandor also felt that his human familiar-turned-friend is spending more time with Laszlo, who also had to use his gentleman scientist skills to figure out the bizarre and secret changes that Guillermo was going through.

Nadja, meanwhile, decided to reconnect with her family from the Old Country, as a result of her formerly-unknown supernatural hex. With her relationship with The Guide getting established in the fourth season, helping her open a vampire nightclub, Season 5 also showed more ventures between the two.

As for Colin, he’s now in his old self after turning into baby Colin in Season 4, although he had forgotten that Laszlo raised him like a son prior to his complete transformation. Season 5 further explored their relationship, especially since Laszlo was clearly affected by this turn of events. That, of course, wasn’t that simple, considering Colin attempted to pursue a career in politics, just like the energy vampires before him.

What We Do in the Shadows is also best known for its celebrity cameos; so far we’ve seen actors who have played vampires on screen like Tilda Swinton, Danny Trejo, Wesley Snipes, and Evan Rachel Wood. Famous directors who are fans of the show like Sofia Coppola and Jim Jarmusch, have also appeared as guest stars. This only means fans can anticipate more familiar faces spicing up some scenes in Season 6.

The series has been critically acclaimed for its cast and writing, having received 17 Emmy nominations, including the Outstanding Comedy Series in 2020, 2022, and 2024.
