After hitting the theatres in late 2023, Wonka is now streaming in Australia.

Timothée Chalamet stars as the young chocolatier in the new Wonka movie exploring the titular character’s origin story. With Wonka now available on demand on subscription streaming, here’s everything to know about the new musical that’s already brought Chalamet his third Golden Globe nomination.

With Warner Bros. Pictures distributing the film, Wonka is streaming in Australia via BINGE, Foxtel, and Foxtel Now. It follows in the footsteps of earlier Warner Bros. movies that Foxtel has licensing rights to stream, including The Batman, Joker, the Harry Potter films, and many more.

Meanwhile, you can watch the earlier film starring Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), available on Stan. Gene Wilder also portrayed the role in 1971’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, which you can watch on BINGE and Foxtel.

Young chocolatier Willy Wonka (Chalamet) aspires to open his own chocolate shop at the Galeries Gourmet. With nothing but his delectable inventions and unwavering willpower, he plans to take the chocolate world by storm.

But introducing his chocolates to the masses proves to be tougher than expected, especially with the Galeries’ three main chocolatiers, Slugworth (Paterson Joseph), Prodnose (Matt Lucas), and Fickelgruber (Mathew Baynton), downright jealous of his creations. Fearing competition, they will stop at nothing to ruin Wonka’s chance of success.

Fortunately, the friends he meets along the way also happen to be the kindest and most loyal supporters he could ever ask for, helping him achieve his dreams and eliminate every hurdle.

The arrival of an Oompa Loompa called Lofty (Hugh Grant) also changes Wonka’s life, encouraging him to never give up; that is despite the Chocolate Cartel, his mean-spirited former landlady Mrs. Scrubbit (Olivia Colman), and the Chief of Police (Keegan-Michael Key) conspiring to crush his dreams.

The movie is directed by Paul King (Paddington) from a screenplay he co-wrote with Simon Farnaby.
