Based on Sara Collins’ novel of the same name, The Confessions of Frannie Langton tells the story of a former slave working for a wealthy couple. She falls in love with her mistress, sharing a connection that brings them joy and solace, until one day she’s dragged away to prison for her murder and that of her husband. With no recollection of the crime, Frannie attempts to piece together the events on the night of the tragedy.

What’s in this Guide?

In this new historical fiction, Karla-Simone Spence stars as former slave Frannie Langton. From a Jamaican plantation to the streets of Georgian London, she finds herself working as a servant for celebrated scientist George Benham and his wife Marguerite Benham, whom she falls in love with.

Already filled with trauma and a harrowing past she can’t seem to escape from, Frannie finds herself in another nightmare after the Benhams are found murdered. Now she must painfully revisit all the events leading up to the most horrible night of her life, just so she could tell her own story.

The Confessions of Frannie Langton is adapted for television by Collins herself, with Andrea Harkin directing all episodes. Collins also serves as executive producer alongside Greg Brenman and Rebecca de Souza.
