Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter and his late brother Aaron are the subject of ID’s new series, Fallen Idols.

After controversial documentary shows like Quiet on Set and The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, Investigation Discovery has another explosive documentary to release with Fallen Idols.

The upcoming series delves deeper into the lives of brothers Nick and Aaron Carter, specifically the sexual allegations against the older Carter brother and the circumstances around the latter’s tragic death.

Here’s what you need to know about ID’s new series and where you can watch in Australia.

What’s in this Guide?

As an Investigation Discovery original, Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter will be streaming in Australia on BINGE and Foxtel Now, then on Foxtel for linear broadcast.

Foxtel or Foxtel Now users can access episodes via the Investigation Discovery channel. On Foxtel, ID is part of the base Foxtel Plus bundle. If you’re using Foxtel Now, you’ll need to get All Packs to access documentary channels on Docos.

You can also access ID on Fetch as part of the Variety Pack.

The Nick and Aaron Carter will be streaming on BINGE from 7 June, which also offers an extensive catalogue of many other documentaries alongside Foxtel and Foxtel Now. The service still offers a 7 day free trial, so new customers can explore heaps of TV shows before signing up.

You can then choose from three streaming tiers to watch the latest movies and BINGE series on demand. A Basic subscription with Ads allows you to stream on one device.

A Standard Plan enables you to enjoy your favourite shows or movies on two devices. A Premium Plan lets you stream on four simultaneously. Both Standard and Premium also offer 4K streaming on selected content. All BINGE plans have no lock-in contract.

Another option for watching the docuseries is the pay TV service Foxtel, broadcasting every episode via Investigation Discovery. More than gripping documentaries, Foxtel also offers live TV with sports streaming, the world’s best dramas, and movie channels for watching blockbusters.

Investigation Discovery, the channel that airs Fallen Idols, is part of Foxtel Plus, the cheapest entertainment package that already includes the previously separate Kids and Favourites packs, increasing the channels offered to over 70. What’s more all Foxtel bundles now include the Multiscreen feature.

If you’re only after a streaming app rather than a pay TV service, all episodes are also going to be on Foxtel Now, which you can try with a free 10-day trial if signing up for the first time.

The Foxtel Now base pack called Essentials pack is only $25 per month. Premium packs like Drama Extra, Sport, and Movies can be added to your base plan if you’re looking to access more content. To access Investigation Discovery on Foxtel Now, you’ll need the All Packs bundle for the Docos pack.

Nick Carter is currently facing sexual assault allegations, all of which are currently under ongoing trial. These claims against the Backstreet Boys singer will be examined in the Fallen Idols documentary, along with his younger brother Aaron Carter’s mental health struggles and substance abuse problems, leading to his death in 2022.

Examining the controversies further, Fallen Idols features exclusive interviews with Nick’s accusers – Melissa Schuman, Ashley Repp, and Shannon Ruth. A member of the Carter family, as well as Aaron’s ex-fiancée Melanie Martin and Nick’s ex-girlfriend, former Pussycat Doll Kaya Jones, are also set to appear in the series to provide more insight into the personal lives of both brothers.

Nick rose to fame in the 1990s as part of Backstreet Boys with Aaron following suit in the 2000s as a teen pop sensation. Their golden boy image, however, became tainted with controversies many years later.

At the height of their respective careers, the brothers appeared to have had closeness, although it has since been revealed that Nick and Aaron Carter had a complicated relationship.

The extent of their fractured bond and how their tumultuous upbringing played a crucial role in their highs and lows will also be explored in Fallen Idols.

The documentary series is directed by Tara Malone and co-directed and produced by Natasha Bowler. Elissa Halperin serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Michael Hirschorn, Jess Antonini, and Simon Ardizzone.

ID has released an official trailer for their new docu-series, which you can watch here.

Nick and Aaron’s family members, friends, and industry professionals have been confirmed to appear in the documentary. Nick Carter’s accusers, Melissa Schuman, Ashley Repp, and Shannon Ruth, will also appear.

The Backstreet Boys singer, however, declined to be interviewed for the documentary.

Both BINGE and Foxtel offer more documentaries covering controversial subjects, including The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, Savior Complex, Secrets of Playboy, Secrets of Penthouse, Secrets of Miss America, House of Hammer, Catch and Kill: The Podcast Tapes, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, and more.

You can find more documentaries to watch by checking what’s on BINGE or Foxtel. You can also explore other docos using the streaming search bar below.
