Out of My Mind follows a young girl with cerebral palsy, Melody Brooks (Phoebe-Rae Taylor). She is in a wheelchair and is unable to speak and communicate her wishes, frustrating her deeply despite her parents’ efforts to help her live a normal life.

She also feels guilty at times, thinking she causes her parents to suffer. Nonetheless, she has a positive disposition that helps her get through the difficulties of growing up, even choosing Jennifer Aniston to be her inner voice.

School life is even harder despite being a bright girl with photographic memory. Regardless of the many challenges, Melody tries her best to participate in school, learn new things, and make friends.

With the help of a communication device, Melody finally has a way to talk to her family and friends. Her exceptional memory also lands her a spot on a trivia team, surprising  everyone with her knowledge.

The film is directed by Amber Sealey from a screenplay written by Daniel Stiepleman. It is based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Sharon M. Draper and produced by Dan Angel, Peter Saraf, Robert Kessel, and Michael B. Clark.
