The series follows sisters Dolours Price (Lola Petticrew) and Marian Price (Hazel Doupe), members of the Irish Republican Army.

Fighting for Irish independence, they participate in bank robberies, bombings, and many other covert operations to further their cause. For their roles in the IRA, the sisters “became potent symbols of radical politics”.

Spanning around four decades of The Troubles, Say Nothing also explores the violent culmination of a divided society and the destruction left in its wake, as well as “the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence.”

The limited series is executive produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of Color Force, creator Joshua Zetumer, Edward McDonnell, Monica Levinson and Northern Ireland native Michael Lennox. The book’s author Patrick Radden Keefe is also credited as an executive producer.
