If there’s one thing we’ve learned from horror stories, it’s the unfortunate fact that evil is persistent, not easily extinguished and has the predilection to become dangerously clingy. It thrives on toxicity and fear, kind of a really, really bad relationship. And so the worldwide smash hit horror feature The Nun gets a second film with Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) returning as Sister Irene.
Set four years after the events of the first film, The Nun II follows Sister Irene and her continuous battle with the demon nun, Valak, now spreading terror at a boarding school in France. Ahead of its premiere, here’s everything you need to know about The Nun sequel, including release date in Australia, cast, trailer and more.
What’s in this Guide?
The Nun II plot
After terrorising Saint Cartha’s monastery in Romania, Valak the demon nun proves to be a formidable evil, possessing Frenchie at the end of the first film and bringing with him the evil nun’s dreadful darkness in France. Sister Irene’s failure to banish it to hell and trap it there for good failed and now Valak is looking to inflict more deaths, hunting priests and nuns across the country.
Valak is also set to settle the score with Sister Irene, because if someone can hold a grudge there’s no one to do it better than a demonic nun. Haunting a boarding school and terrorising children, Sister Irene the good nun must muster her courage, strength, and faith to defeat this primal evil that can’t seem to chill, once again coming face to face with the greatest evil in The Conjuring universe.
The Nun II comes from producer James Wan alongside Peter Safran. Director Michael Chaves, known for directing The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It and The Curse of La Llorona, serves as director. The Nun and its sequel are part of The Conjuring universe, the highest-grossing horror franchise in history with over $2 billion box office earnings worldwide.
