Nell Serrano is a news reporter who left her promising career to move to London to be with a guy, the wrong guy. So they split five years later, prompting her to return to California at her previous company, a local paper called SoCal Independent.

There she observes how everyone has seemed to move forward, unlike her who’s starting from scratch for a new life. She also takes the only job she’s offered to do, which is writing obituaries.

As she begins writing about the dead, she also gains the inexplicable ability to see dead people, although not in a scary, gory, run for your life kind of way.

Eventually, she learns that they can be a reliable source of life advice, having experienced both life and death. What’s more, meeting the ghosts of the people whose obituaries she’s working on helps her write beautifully about them.

Not Dead Yet is created by Casey Johnson and David Windsor based on Alexandra Potter’s Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up. It stars the engaging Gina Rodriguez in her major television comeback after Jane The Virgin.

In addition to Rodriguez, the new sitcom features a dynamic cast including Hannah Simone (New Girl), Lauren Ash (Superstore), and Rick Glassman (As We See It).

Check out the trailer for the new season below.
