Ray Shoesmith is a criminal for hire who operates in the Sydney suburbs. However, he constantly finds himself in a quandary – and a massive one at that – he uses violence in his own unique way to deal with criminals… and with others who rub him the wrong way. In Season 3, Ray’s violence lands him in jail, further complicating his relationship with his daughter. He has a bittersweet realisation about the violent world he’s in and how that blatantly contradicts the safe haven he wants to provide for his only child, eventually acknowledging that he can’t protect her forever.
Meanwhile, Bruce’s death in Season 2 leads for Ray and his father, Bill, to share a common grief, ultimately becoming at peace with each other despite their very tumultuous relationship in the past.
