John Wick 4: TV release date and where to watch in Australia

Published On

October 24, 2023

Wondering which streamers to check for John Wick 4 streaming in Australia? When John Wick was released in 2014, it exceeded box office projections and its potential for success. Initially, it was an unknown independent film directed by first-time directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch (Stahelski was Keanu Reeves’ stunt double in The Matrix films). The producers struggled to secure a distributor to theatrically release the film. An indie action movie with newbie directors at the helm and headlined by a lead star whose career seemingly slowed down wasn’t a good look; until Lionsgate made an offer.

Now, John Wick is one of the biggest action movie franchises of all time and a billion-dollar one at that. With the fourth film gracing the big screens earlier this year, Reeves reprises his role as a legendary hitman, who, despite ongoing warnings not to cross him, are still targeted by enemies who should know better.

If you’re looking forward to a John Wick 4 streaming, Australia has plenty of options for watching movies on demand. Initially available on pay per view only after its theatrical run, the fourth movie is slated to make its streaming TV debut on Foxtel, Foxtel Now, BINGE, and Prime Video, following in the footsteps of the first three John Wick films.

The new John Wick movie picks up where the previous film left off – Winston betrays John and offers allegiance to the High Table. Left for dead, John survives with the help of the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne), working alongside the former underground boss also betrayed by the High Table. With the price on his head only getting higher, John must find a way to free himself from a tormenting and vicious world he thought he’s already left behind.

Winston, grieving from a tragic loss after the High Table comes at him, informs John that the only way to escape the council is to challenge them in a duel – and win. But before getting to what could be his final act of violence, he must face insurmountable challenges, which he still does so anyway because he’s John Wick.

One such challenge is a new enemy in the form of Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård), a member of the High Table with powerful alliances. As John takes his battle against the High Table across the globe, he seeks out some of the underworld’s formidable players in his all-or-nothing attempt to earn his freedom.

The highest-grossing movie in the franchise, Keanu Reeves is back as the title character, as well as director Chad Stahelski, who directed every John Wick film in the series. New cast members joining the franchise include Bill Skarsgård, Donnie Yen, and Hiroyuki Sanada, while Laurence Fishburne returns as the Bowery King and Ian McShane as Winston Scott.

When John Wick uncovers a way to end the High Table once and for all, he challenges a new enemy equipped with forces that turn old friends into enemies. Check out the official John Wick Chapter 4 trailer here.

The ever affable and well-dressed Keanu Reeves returns to play the iconic character. Ian McShane, a notable figure in the franchise who was introduced in the first film, also reprises his role as Winston. New cast members include Donnie Yen playing the role of Caine, a blind High Table assassin forced to kill John Wick in exchange for his daughter’s life. Here’s the complete cast of John Wick 4

  • Keanu Reeves as John Wick
  • Donnie Yen as Caine
  • Bill Skarsgård as the Marquis Vincent Bisset de Gramont
  • Laurence Fishburne as the Bowery King
  • Ian McShane as Winston Scott

  • Lance Reddick as Charon
  • Rina Sawayama as Shimazu Akira
  • Marko Zaror as Chidi
  • Scott Adkins as Killa Harkan
  • Clancy Brown as the Harbinger
  • Natalia Tena portrays Katia

With the recent release of John Wick: Chapter 4, fans of the action franchise may want to revisit earlier movies online. Luckily you can with many streaming platforms in Australia offering previous John Wick instalments. So how many John Wick movies are there? There are four films in total and watching the entire franchise in proper order can be confusing for some. To make it easier, here’s a list of the John Wick movies in order.

It’s easy to see why John Wick is almost everyone’s go-to action film. The action sequences are constantly gripping, every character is a delight in their own wicked way, and Keanu Reeves’ hitman character defeating everyone despite all odds is an entertainment that deserves its own action sub-genre (I told you not to cross this man genre).
