Death in Paradise Season 14 is set to thrill fans with more intriguing cases and a new detective who can’t wait to leave.

In Death in Paradise, Detective inspectors assigned to the paradise island of Saint Marie may have qualms about staying but in the end that’s what they do – stay.

Eventually warming to the island lifestyle, they begin to treat the island their home and the locals their friends, all the while still examining every crime scene that befalls the island.

With Ralf Little’s DI Neville Parker departing during the Death in Paradise Season 13 finale, we’ll be introduced to the island’s new grumpy but highly capable detective, Detective Mervin Wilson, played by Sherwood actor Don Gilet.

When does Death in Paradise return in Australia? Fortunately, Death in Paradise Season 14 is already streaming, premiering on Tuesday, 11 February 2025 on BritBox. New episodes will be rolling out weekly on streaming TV.

Just like the previous Death in Paradise Season 13, the crime comedy show’s newest season will also consist of eight episodes, airing exclusively on BritBox in Australia.

If you need a refresher, earlier seasons of the series is also streaming on BritBox. It’s worth noting that Death in Paradise is no longer available on Foxtel and BINGE with BBC First exiting Foxtel.

Saint Marie, a fictional Caribbean Island, may be an idyllic paradise but its spectacular tropical vibe doesn’t mean it’s mysterious crime-free. And so DI Richard Poole (Ben Miller) is sent from the Metropolitan Police in London to investigate the murder of a British police officer. Miller the show after the second series.

More detectives have followed, including Kris Marshall’s Detective Inspector Humphrey Goodman (Season 3−6), Ardal O’Hanlon’s Detective Inspector Jack Mooney (Season 6-9), and Ralf Little’s as Detective Inspector Neville (Season 9-13).

In Death in Paradise Season 14, we’ll be seeing more of Detective Mervin Wilson (Gilet), who was first introduced in Death in Paradise 2024 Christmas Special. Far from his home in London, he stays in the idyllic island of Saint Marie to assist with a case.

However, Detective Wilson may have another reason for extending his stay, surprising the team at the Saint Marie Police. When he decides he’s ready to move on and leave, a highly important case presents itself. But with the new detective not getting along with the team just yet, staying may be harder than it should be. Nonetheless, Detective Wilson and the team join forces to investigate the island’s most puzzling cases yet.

As mentioned, Season 14 features a new lead character following DI Parker leaving the island with Florence (Joséphine Jobert). Returning cast members include Don Warrington as as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Shantol Jackson as Detective Sergeant Naomi Thomas, Ginny Holder as Officer Darlene Curtis, and Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey. Death in Paradise is created by Robert Thorogood.
