How to watch the NRL live in Australia in 2027: Nine, Kayo and Foxtel

The 2027 NRL season opens in Las Vegas. Parramatta play Gold Coast and Melbourne play Wests Tigers at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday 27 February in the United States, which is Sunday 28 February in Australia. The other clubs start the following weekend, and the Perth Bears join the competition, so a full round is now nine games. This guide shows where every game is on in Australia, what is free on Nine and 9Now, and what changes in 2027.

Kayo and Foxtel say they will show every NRL home-and-away match live in 2027, and that coverage starts with the Las Vegas season launch and runs through Magic Round. The Grand Final is the exception: it is on Nine, and Fox League shows it as a replay with its own commentary. State of Origin is also a Nine broadcast.

2027 NRL season: the dates we know

The NRL has not published the full 2027 draw. It is reported for release on 16 November 2026, the day after the Rugby League World Cup final, so this table will fill in then.

The NRL also confirmed that two English Super League clubs, Bradford Bulls and Leigh Leopards, play in Las Vegas that weekend. Nine screened the 2026 Las Vegas opener free, with its countdown show from 1pm AEDT and the first game at 3pm. We have not seen a 2027 announcement from Nine or Kayo for the Las Vegas games, so expect the same set-up but treat it as unconfirmed until the draw is out.

Fox League becomes Kayo League

Foxtel Group announced in September 2026 that from 2027 its Fox Sports brand moves under Kayo SPORTS. Fox League becomes Kayo League, Fox Footy becomes Kayo Footy and Fox Cricket becomes Kayo Cricket. Existing coverage stays available to Foxtel customers. We have not seen a start date inside 2027 or the new channel numbers, so check your Foxtel channel guide in February.

Watch the NRL with Foxtel and Foxtel Now

Foxtel shows the NRL on the league channel (Fox League today, Kayo League in 2027) and runs the weekly NRL programs around it, including NRL 360 and The Fan Show. Foxtel Now is the streaming version. Watch the NRL free on Nine and 9Now

Channel 9 and 9Now show a selection of live NRL games each week at no cost. In round 2 of 2026 the Nine games were Thursday Night Football (Melbourne Storm v Parramatta Eels), Friday Night Footy (Broncos v Panthers) and Sunday Arvo Footy (Dolphins v Rabbitohs). The 2027 slots depend on the draw. Nine also shows men's and women's State of Origin, the Grand Final and every NRLW premiership match, and 100% Footy on Monday nights.

Nine's broadcasts have ad breaks during play, and they carry only some games. If you follow one team through the whole season, you will need Kayo or Foxtel for the rest. What changes from 2028

The NRL announced a seven-year deal on 7 July 2026 that runs from 2028 to 2034, with Nine, Foxtel Group and Sky New Zealand. Under it:

• Foxtel and Kayo show every regular-season and finals match live, with exclusive access to the Saturday fixtures.
• Nine keeps State of Origin and the Grand Final, and gets free-to-air and free streaming of three live matches each week, the finals series, 33 live NRLW matches, the NRLW finals and Tests in Australia.

That means 2027 is the last season of the current set-up. The coverage described above is what we expect to carry over to 2027, because the new deal does not start until 2028.

How the 2026 season finished

The Sydney Roosters won the 2026 premiership, beating the Newcastle Knights 19-18 in the Grand Final at Accor Stadium on Sunday 4 October 2026. Newcastle led 12-6 at half-time, and the Roosters scored 13 points to 6 in the second half. James Tedesco won the Clive Churchill Medal. Penrith were the minor premiers. Nine and 9Now showed the Grand Final, and Fox League had the replay.
