Perth Supersprint Live TV Preview
Round five moves on from Victoria to Western Australia this weekend for the Perth SuperSprint, with the championship race being hotly contested. Scott McLaughlin is off to a torrid start and leads the Driver’s Championship, while seven-time champion Jamie Whincup, and 2016 title holder Shane van Gisbergen, Craig Lowndes and David Reynolds are well within striking distance.
Scott McLaughlin will head to Perth with plenty of confidence after his showing in this year’s Phillip Island V8 events, while Shane van Gisbergen will look to move up in the ladder as he aims for consecutive V8 Supercars Championships, and of course, Craig Lowndes is no stranger to success having won seven times in Perth including just last year.

Perth Supersprint Drivers to Watch
Scott McLaughlin is the reigning Drivers champion who is fast becoming one of the all time greats of the sport in Australia. His title defence got back on track after loosing the Tasmanian Super Sprint to vetern racer Craig Lowndes by a mere 12 points. He finished first in Perth last year in what was a round he’d like to forget. He is in good form and is the one to beat.
The 2017 winner of the Bathurst 12-hour, Jamie Whincup is one driver you don’t want to underestimate. While 2017 saw the lowest number of race wins since 2006 his consistency keeps him at the top. Last summer he made Supercar history with 106 wins. So far in the 2018 season Whincup once championship under his belt with a spectacular finish at the alberta Grand Prix
Tensions are still high between drivers James Courtney and Will Davison after a 2017 incident where Courtney allegedly bumped into Davison on the first turn at Launceston. This weekend will evolve around this pair perhaps more so than the actual race itself.
