Perth SuperNight Live TV Preview
Round five moves on from Victoria to Western Australia this weekend for the Perth SuperNight, with the championship race being hotly contested. Scott McLaughlin is off to a lightning fast start for the second straight season and leads the Driver’s Championship, but hot on his heels are fellow Kiwis Fabian Coulthard and Shane van Gisbergen, as are Aussie hopefuls Chaz Mostert and David Reynolds.
McLaughlin will head to Perth with plenty of confidence having won both races at the event last year and following a strong showing in this year’s Phillip Island V8 events, while winner of seven V8 Supercars Championships, Jamie Whincup, will be looking to move up the standings after an uncharacteristically slow start to the 2019 season.

Perth SuperNight Drivers to Watch
Scott McLaughlin is the reigning Drivers Champion who is fast becoming one of the all time greats of the sport in Australia. He won both races in Perth last year and will be looking to do so again as he attempts to extend his lead atop the standings in his quest for consecutive Drivers Championships.
Seven time Drivers Champion Jamie Whincup is off to a slow start to 2019, finding himself in ninth place four rounds in, but he is one driver you don’t want to underestimate. He has looked well below his best during the season to date, but the Melbournian hasn’t finished lower than fifth in the Championship since 2006, and has finished in the top three on all but one occasion during that time, so expect his form to turnaround.
Fabian Coulthard, in his third year back on the Australian circuit after six racing internationally, is beginning to stake his claim as the best driver on the tour. He finds himself in second place behind Scott McLaughlin, but after three second place finishes and a win in his past four races, he is rapidly closing the gap. A couple of good performances in Perth will have McLaughlin looking nervously over his shoulder.
