In telecommunication, a Bridge refers to a network device that is used to connect multiple network segments together. If one of those segments is a wireless network, it is called wireless bridging.

A common use of bridges is to link home networks to the Internet or other external networks. With many home devices having WiFi capability these days, it is common for households to set up a wireless LAN (Local Area Network) to which all home devices can connect. This home network can be connected to the rest of the Internet via a bridge. Alternatively, a bridge can be used to link two or more access points to extend the home LAN.
