The acclaimed comedy-drama follows young adult Elliott, who, on her 18th birthday, decides she wants to celebrate by having a magic mushroom trip. She misses her family’s birthday surprise as a result, but gets to meet her 39-year-old self during her trip.

Asking her older self for some life advice, she is encouraged to spend more time with her family and avoid a guy named Chad at all costs. As if magically, the 39-year-old Elliott continues to make appearances even post-trip, helping her deal with the complexities of growing up by offering wisecracking life lessons.

The screenplay for My Old Ass was also written by director Megan Park. Barbie actress Margot Robbie serves as a producer through her production company LuckyChap Entertainment alongside husband Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara. Steven Rales from Indian Paintbrush is also credited as producer.
