Extraordinary Season 2: TV release date and where to watch in Australia

February 26, 2024

The new season for the well-loved Extraordinary TV show is coming soon. In a world where everyone over the age of 18 develops a superpower, it’s only right for Jen to feel left behind. For starters, she’s already 25 with no hint of any super skills coming her way.

Already going aimlessly in a confusing world with no clear destination in mind, she embarks on a vague journey with nothing but some semblance of hope, plenty of desperation, and her quirky flatmates in search of her elusive superpower.

Extraordinary Season 1 was well-received by critics and audiences alike, leading to its renewal. With season 2 just around the corner, here’s everything you need to know about the latest instalment of Extraordinary TV show.

Extraordinary was commissioned by Disney Plus under the Star brand, making it a Disney+ exclusive in Australia. If you’re watching the superhero comedy for the first time, episodes from season 1 are still streaming on Disney+.

In addition to content from Star, Disney+ is also the home of Star Wars, Marvel, Pixar, Disney, and National Geographic.

It’s suffice to say that having no powers in a world where everyone has it by the time they’re 18 is scary and confusing. You’re feeling left behind and you’re beginning to have abundant thoughts about how you’re no good and how everyone thinks you’re a joke.

Meet 25-year-old Jen (Máiréad Tyers): Single, powerless, and a young woman exactly feeling all of the above negativities.

She has a good reason to – she should’ve a superpower by now but it just seems that it’s taking a while for her, a really long while. Luckily, she has her flatmates and a mysterious stray to cheer her up and keep her from falling into a permanent state of doom and gloom.

With her friends and her desperate yearning for power, Jen begins her journey seeking for that one thing she feels incomplete without. But life has a funny thing of showing us what’s real and important, and so in her journey Jen might also discover the joy of being ordinary.

In Extraordinary Season 2, Jen takes her search for power to the next level, enlisting the help of a power clinic. While we didn’t see her discover her power in the first season finale, things look promising for her going into the new season.

As for her closest allies, former cat, now-boyfriend Jizzlord (Luke Rollason) may have a surprising past. Kash (Bilal Hasna) and Carrie (Sofia Oxenham) also decide to break up, but them living together, of course, isn’t helping hasten the process.

From stand-out debut writer Emma Moran, Extraordinary is an innovative comedy that stars Máiréad Tyers as Jen. It’s executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle, Lee Morris, Charles Dawson for Sid Gentle Films, the award-winning production company behind Killing Eve.

Meanwhile, Charlie Palmer serves as producer for the series with Vice President for Disney+’s Scripted Content Johanna Devereaux also executive producing.
