Parenthood is only better explored and examined when the children start getting older and experience their own struggles. That’s why Breeders is big on time jumps. We need to see Paul and Ally deal with their almost grown-up children as they navigate their own turmoil and discover themselves in the process.

In Breeders Season 4, five years have passed, which means Luke and Eve are at that age where they’re not old enough but they’re also not kids anymore, either – which, for parents, basically means a nightmare.

Since the third season ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger with Paul and Ally’s relationship deteriorating and their children dealing with their own issues at the same time, we can expect these tensions to continue in the fourth season despite the time jump.

The final season also brings some unexpected news with Luke, now 18, and his girlfriend, Maya, making a surprise announcement that will change their family’s life forever.

As for Paul and Ally, they’re still on the verge of splitting up, but with some big changes happening on their children’s lives, they might consider to postpone any plans for divorce.

Meanwhile, their friends  Jim (Alun Armstrong) and Jackie (Joanna Bacon) have serious issues of their own. Their daughter, Ava, who’s already 16 in the new season, has her own self-discovery moment after meeting Holly (Jessie Williams).

Check out the trailer for season 4 to get a glimpse of what’s about to come.

The final and fourth season of Breeders will make your heart laugh and cry with this brilliant cast.

It’s worth noting that the roles of Luke and Ava have been recast due to the five-year time jump in season 4.

  • Martin Freeman as Paul Worsley
  • Daisy Haggard as Ally Grant
  • Oscar Kennedy as Luke
  • Zoë Athena as Ava
  • Stella Gonet as Leah
  • Joanna Bacon as Jackie
  • Alun Armstrong as Jim
  • Patrick Baladi as Darren
  • Tim Steed as Carl
  • Jessie Williams as Holly
  • Ruby Fubara as Grace
  • Andi Osho as Susie
  • Deepica Stephen as Maya

There are four seasons with the fourth confirmed to be the final instalment. Each season consists of 10 episodes, all of which you can stream on demand on Disney+ in Australia.
