What is Levine about?

One night prior to his dead sentence inmate Fleques tells his spiritual guide novice Constance Crenshaw about Madeleine McNamara, a 24 year old woman who started to receive messages from her dead sister Levine one year after she died in a car crash Madeleine herself survived. Plagued by Survival Syndrome Madeleine started to mutilate herself in her sleep, removing her tattoos and birthmarks. With his help Madeleine tried to determine whether she's suffering from a mental illness or if there might be a darker side to her sufferings and ghostly sightings.
