Eighteen months after the controversy, the docu-series also examines the team’s dynamics with new captain Tim Paine and head coach Justin Langer at the helm.

Amazon has yet to confirm the number of episodes for the new instalment, although it’s worth noting that season 1 had eight episodes while The Test Season 2 had only four.

What is The Test Season 3 about?
The Test Season 3 chronicles the Australian men’s cricket team’s arduous journey between June and July 2023 when they take on India in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final and England in the 2023 Ashes series.
Taking on cricket’s two superpowers – India, which is headlined by the legendary Virat Kohli, and England with their new and aggressive “BazBall” approach – the Australian men’s cricket team is introduced to a new level of pressure.
And so, this season will examine every behind-the-scenes moment as players battle their strongest competition and face passionate yet hostile crowds. Most importantly, the team is also confronted with the immense responsibility of a tour that will make or break their legacy.
Showing the intimate side of the competition, players such as Captain Pat Cummins, Usman Khawaja, Nathan Lyon, and Alex Carey also look back on some defining moments with their families.
The Test: A New Era for Australia’s Team, is produced by Amazon Studios and Cricket Australia. The docu-series is directed by Adrian Brown with Sheldon Wynne serving as co-director for seasons 2 and 3. The former is also credited as producer alongside Mish Armstrong and Richard Ostroff.
