In So Help Me Todd, a private detective loses his license to operate after his business partner gets in trouble and drags him down with her. The firm he co-founded also shut down, leaving him with basically nothing.

With his career gone, he finds himself living in his sister’s garage. At this point a mother needs to step in, again, so Margaret, Todd’s mom, hires him as an in-house investigator at her law firm. Together, they investigate, dig up dirt, conduct stakeouts, the whole nine yards, to find out truths, and win cases.

With the television filled with legal procedurals, So Help Me Todd is a delightful offering from CBS that’s definitely worth trying.

What is So Help Me Todd about?

Todd is a former private investigator. While brilliant and good at his job, his luck says otherwise. Two years ago, his license was taken away and his business partner was sent to prison, their investigative firm shutting down for good. He has been lost since then, lacking the direction and focus to reassemble.

To help him get back on his feet, his mother Margaret, a partner at a reputable law firm, hires him as an investigator. Their work dynamics may be downright wobbly:  Margaret applies a strict compliance to the law when doing her investigation, and Todd, well, Todd has no qualms being flexible to get things done.

Created by Scott Prendergast, the series is produced by main cast member Marcia Gay Harden alongside JoAnne McCool, S. Lily Hui, Ira Madison III, and Wayne Bennett.
