Taylor Sheridan has been creating some of the most-watched crime dramas in recent times with Yellowstone and its prequels 1883 and 1923, all of which proved to be television smash-hits. His massive multiyear development deal with Paramount also brought Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King to our screens. After the successes of the aforementioned shows, Sheridan returns this year with another major streaming offering in Special Ops: Lioness, bringing together Academy Award winners Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman, Zoe Saldaña, Michael Kelly, and Laysla De Oliveira.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new thriller series.
What’s in this Guide?
Special Ops: Lioness preview
Inspired by an actual US military program, the upcoming series revolves around Joe (Saldaña), the station chief leading the CIA’s Lioness Engagement Team. As CIA’s spear in the war on terror, she struggles to balance her personal and professional life. An asset in the agency, she’s in-charge of training and supervising new recruits, sending the best female undercover operatives for undercover missions. The Lioness Program is looked after by program head Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman) and CIA Deputy Director Donald Westfield (Kelly).
Battling a terrorist organisation, a passionate young marine recruited to operate undercover alongside Joe is brought into the fold. The mission is to befriend the daughter of a billionaire with strong ties to terrorist groups. Together, they operate amongst the power brokers of terrorism in the CIA’s efforts to stop the next 9/11.
Main stars Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldaña also executive produced the series alongside Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan, Jill Wagner, David Glasser, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, and Geyer Kosinski. Meanwhile, Westworld director Paul Cameron and Peaky Blinders director Anthony Byrne join the series to direct multiple episodes.
