Frasier Reboot Season 2: Release date and where to watch in Australia

After a successful first season run, the Frasier reboot Season 2 is back for more golden quips, Frasier style.

First appearing in the classic sitcom Cheers, Frasier Crane has grown to become a household name and is widely considered as one of the most remarkable characters from the ’90s. His performance on Cheers made a lasting impression that producers decided to expand his role even though he was only set to appear for a few episodes. He later became the star of his own show in the spin-off, Frasier.

Nearly a decade after it concluded with Frasier Season 11, a revival spin-off graced our screens with Kelsey Grammer returning to play the iconic character.

The new season of the Frasier reboot premieres with two episodes in Australia on Friday, 20 September. The remaining episodes of the 10-part second season rolls weekly on streaming TV.

The new Frasier, which premiered in 2023, follows Crane (Kelsey Grammer) as he navigates the next chapter of his life. Looking to reconnect with his son Frederick (Jack Cutmore-Scott), he returns to Boston more snobbish and funnier than ever.

The Frasier reboot, of course, introduces fresh characters as Frasier explores present-day relationships and meets new people. His return to the small screen also signifies that he still has things to do and old dreams to finally fulfill. And we’re all up for it.

Created by Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, the Frasier revival was greenlit for an exclusive launch on Paramount+ back in 2021 with Grammer confirming his involvement in the new project.

With several TV classics securing modern revivals, Paramount choosing Frasier is welcome news for fans of excellent comedy.

The original sitcom won a total of 37 Primetime Emmy Awards during its 11-year run, so Frasier returning nearly a decade after its 2004 finale is a television event worth getting into.

Teasing what’s about to come is Frasier Season 2’s official trailer here:

Many of the original series’ cast members are returning to the reboot, including lead star Kelsey Grammer himself, as well as Peri Gilpin who plays Roz Doyle. Bebe Neuwirth, who portrays Frasier’s ex wife Lilith Sternin is also set to appear in the revival. Jack Cutmore-Scott (Deception), meanwhile, plays Frasier’s son Freddy Crane. He was played by Trevor Einhorn in the original show.

Other new faces include Nicholas Lyndhurst (Only Fools and Horses) playing Frasier’s friend from college, Alan. Anders Keith also joins the cast as Niles Crane and Daphne’s son David.

For those who are wondering, David Hyde Pierce, who played Niles in the original Frasier, didn’t join Grammer in the Frasier 2023 reboot.
