The previous aquatic action and gore in the first film generated global success, proving that Jason Statham headlining a giant shark movie provides the ultimate adrenaline rush.

With multiple massive megs escaping the deepest depths of the ocean floor to wreak havoc on the surface, only Jason Statham’s Jonas Taylor has the tenacity and the experience to end the toothy mayhem once and for all.

As if more shark attacks isn’t enough, a malevolent mining operation threatens everything Jonas and his daring research team have accomplished, making Meg 2: The Trench a high stakes battle for survival.

Set five years after the events of the first movie, Jonas Taylor has been spending his time fighting environmental crimes. He’s also still involved with Mana One, which continues to explore a deeper part of the Mariana Trench where the Megalodon was first spotted.

But journeying into the deepest parts of the unknown ocean can only unleash more ancient predators, especially with an illegal mining operation wanting access to the trench for some dibs on rare earth minerals that are worth billions.

As expected, the action of some relentless environmental plunderers results in seemingly countless merciless predators escaping the trench.

With Megs and other ancient giant creatures gliding in the ocean for more blood and terror, Jonas and his team must find a way to defeat their enemies – the Megs, the giant octopus, the Snappers, and worst of all, those illegal mining people – in a pulse-pounding race against time.

If you’re into creature movies, the Meg sequel promises to be the most electrifying cinematic experience with bigger and more sharks to unleash and a greater evil to defeat. Directed by Ben Wheatley, it is based on ‘The Trench’, the sequel novel to ‘Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror’.
