The popular video game series revolving around terrifying animatronics on a violent rampage was recently brought to life with Five Nights at Freddy’s movie.

Starring The Hunger Games actor Josh Hutcherson, it follows a troubled security guard, who, after getting fired from his job, is offered the role of a night guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a run-down pizzeria and family entertainment centre. He accepts out of necessity, but eventually realises that late night shifts at Freddy’s will be the most frightening shift he’s ever had to survive from.

Find out more about the new horror film, which is now Blumhouse’s highest-grossing movie worldwide.

Recently fired from his job, security guard Mike Schmidt (Josh Hutcherson) takes a new offer from his career counsellor, Steve Raglan (Matthew Lillard), to work the night shift at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. While hesitant, he agrees when social services threaten to take custody of his younger sister, Abby (Piper Rubio).

On his first night, he meets police officer Vanessa Shelly (Elizabeth Lail), who tells him about Freddy’s horrifying origins, leading to its permanent closure. The subsequent nights are just as disturbing as Mike discovers that the animatronic mascots are possessed, violent, and frighteningly vindictive.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is directed by Emma Tammi from a screenplay written by Tammi, Seth Cuddeback, and the video game creator Scott Cawthon.
