How to watch Goodnight Mommy in Australia

The horror remake of the 2014 acclaimed Austrian film, Goodnight Mommy, will feature Naomi Watts (The Impossible, Mulholland Drive) as she takes on the challenging role in this American remake. Here, she plays a mother of twin boys who undergoes reconstructive surgery. With her demeanor suddenly changing and her face covered in surgical bandages, the boys begin to suspect that there’s an impostor in their house.

The original feature film was highly praised, bagging prestigious awards and nominations in Europe. The 2022 remake appears to be just as promising. Find out how you can watch the new film for free using this guide.

What’s in this Guide?

In this new horror movie, Naomi Watts stars as a bandaged mother living with her sons, twin brothers Elias and Lukas. Arriving at their mother’s house after her cosmetic surgery, the young boys immediately feel something is off and that their real mother isn’t the one beneath the gauze.

The twins, who do everything together, from collecting insects to feeding stray cats, grow suspicious of their mother’s increasingly bizarre behaviour that they begin to test her. The result is a series of disturbing discoveries intensified by paranoia and terror. The original film, 2014’s Goodnight Mommy, is one of the best in the horror genre – a slow burn in the first half that grows evocatively unsettling as it progresses.

The remake promises to deliver the same level of fright and suspense but with a possibly different twist. Directed by Matt Sobel and written by Kyle Warren, Watts also serves as an executive producer alongside Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, who wrote and directed the original film.

Goodnight Mommy is three-party co-production between Amazon Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Playtime (co-founded by French producer Nicolas Brigaud-Robert).
