Stan have promised award-winning TV shows, blockbuster movies, first-run exclusives as well as exciting kids content – so, you can definitely expect loads of interesting viewing options.

A bonus is that TV shows can be watched in HD, which is something that other key players like Foxtel Play, Presto and ABC do not offer in Australia – this surely gives the newcomer an upper hand over its competitors. The Stan app is available on both Android and iOS, allowing subscribers to stream video content directly from their mobile devices. Stan also comes with support for Google Chromecast and AirPlay, which caters to subscribers who prefer watching movies and TV shows on a bigger screen.

The website’s landing page features an image of Better Call Saul’s star Bob Odenkirk. Why? That’s because they have exclusive rights for the Breaking Bad prequel, so new episodes will be dropping in just a few hours before it’s aired in the US. The Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad acquisition with Sony Pictures is undoubtedly a great deal for the newest video streaming service on the block. However, there is plenty more to come, as more franchise exclusives are expected to be announced soon.

The CEO of Video on Demand provider Stan, Mike Sneesby, said that their approach to selecting titles was: “If it’s big on BitTorrent, if it’s big on Netflix, we wanted it for StreamCo in Australia”. From the looks of this, it certainly seems like other Australian video streaming services, Netflix in particular, will be facing tough competition from Stan. Apart from this, Stan has also signed exclusive deals with other international studios and considering the way things have been going for Stan from the outset, it is safe to say the video streaming service has a bright future ahead.

Amazon Studios’ fantastic series, Transparent, is available on the service. So, it is possible that other Amazon series, such as Mozart in the Jungle, Red Oaks, Alpha House, and The After, will follow. You will also find popular British series, like Sherlock, Orphan Black, Top Gear, Wallander, Luther Parade’s End and Torchwood, in addition to, classic comedies like Fawlty Towers, Gavin and Stacey, Extras and The Office, Absolutely Fabulous and The Vicar of Dibley, courtesy of Stan’s deal with BBC.

Furthermore, a range of local content will also be available. You will find Australian comedies like Summer Heights High, It’s a Date, and Upper Middle Bogan among others. However, that’s not all, as popular kids TV shows including The Wiggles, SpongeBob SquarePants, In the Night Garden, and Dora the Explorer are also on offer. There’s something for everyone to watch on Stan.

On the whole, the current TV show library offered by Stan is unarguably impressive. However, it must not be forgotten that it’s only been a few weeks since its launch. This library will only grow bigger and better with time.
