Robyn Carr’s “Virgin River” novels have been adapted for television with Virgin River first debuting on Netflix in 2019. The charming drama with its equally likeable cast has since garnered a large fanbase worldwide, including Australia. It centres on Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who leaves her life in Los Angeles to start a new one in Virgin River, a remote town in Northern California.
Five seasons in and the series continues to dazzle fans, only getting more compelling season after season. Virgin River Season 5 just premiered last September, although new episodes are expected this month.

Virgin River Season 5 plot and cast
Virgin River follows Mel Monroe, a nurse and midwife whose past life in Los Angeles proved to be too painful to bear. Deciding she needs to begin a new life, she relocates to the remote town of Virgin River, hoping to forge new experiences and bury her past.
The town’s mayor, Hope McCrea, hires her to provide assistance to the town’s doctor, Vernon Mullins. It is clear they instantly do not like each other, instantly disagreeing over how to run the clinic. Mel also meets Jack Sheridan, bartender and owner of Jack’s Bar.
Fast forward to season 5 and Mel and Jack end up together. However, their yearning to expand their family is constantly threatened by tragedies they have no control of.
Also in Virgin River Season 5, we’ve seen the town getting hit by a massive wildfire, changing everyone’s lives forever. But despite the tragedy afflicting the town, they’ve also grown stronger than ever, establishing their unbreakable bond. That and a whole lot more of twists and turns that always keep the fans guessing!
The cast of Virgin River is headlined by Alexandra Breckenridge (The Walking Dead) as Mel Monroe, while Martin Henderson (Grey’s Anatomy) plays her love interest Jack Sheridan.
Other notable town residents are Virgin River mayor Hope McCrea, played by Annette O’Toole, and her husband town doctor Vernon “Doc” Mullins, portrayed by Tim Matheson.
