On Call TV series: Release date and where to watch in Australia

Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario stars as a training officer in Dick Wolf’s new procedural drama, the On Call TV series.

Created by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf, all eight episodes of On Call are set in a two-hour format and runs for only 24 minutes, a first in the world of procedural dramas wherein an episode typically lasts an hour.

With less than 30 minutes in every action-packed episode and “shot with a mixture of hand-held cameras, bodycam and dash-cam footage”, On Call aims to create a more realistic portrayal of modern policing set in Long Beach, California.

On Call premieres this week, streaming in Australia from Thursday, 9 January 2025 with all eight half-hour episodes dropping at once on Amazon Prime Video.

Creators Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf wrote and directed the first and second episode, as well as the finale.

New visceral police drama On Call streaming from 9 January! Check out the trailer below:

Equipped with high-stakes action and drama, On Call follows veteran officer Traci Harmon (Bellisario) and rookie cop Officer Alex Diaz (Brandon Larracuente), who’s still reeling from the loss of a fellow officer. Patrolling the coastal city of Long Beach, California, the duo is confronted by the grim reality of protecting and serving their community, at the expense of their personal lives.

Traci, while a veteran in the force, struggles to find her place in the department. Nonetheless, she uses her grit and experience to train the next generation of police officers, including Alex. Everyday, the pair respond to a new radio call and resolve incidents. But more often than not, they don’t leave scenes unscathed.

The series stars Troian Bellisario, Brandon Larracuente, Eriq LaSalle (who also serves as an executive producer) as Sergeant Lasman, Lori Loughlin as Lieutenant Bishop, and Rich Ting as Sergeant Koyama. It is produced by Universal Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Wolf Entertainment.
