What is the plot of the MobLand TV show?
MobLand follows The Harrigans, a high-ranking crime family in London led by its patriarch Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan), whose decisions are primarily influenced by the family matriarch Maeve (Helen Mirren).
When the Harrigans and their empire that spans generations are threatened by another mob family, the Stevensons, Harry Da Souza, the Harrigans’ designated “fixer”, is called in to eliminate the threat, declaring war. With two clashing notorious families prepared to inflict all-out war on each other, loyalties will shift with power up for grabs.
Originally developed as an origin story to the Showtime series Ray Donovan titled “The Donovans”, further developments led to it being reworked and made into a standalone story about a different crime family.
The cast of MobLand includes Tom Hardy (Venom: The Last Dance, The Bikeriders), Pierce Brosnan (Black Bag, The Son), Helen Mirren (1923, Fast X), Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon, Small Town, Big Story), Joanne Froggatt (Downton Abbey, North Shore), Lara Pulver (Spooks, Sherlock), Anson Boon (Pistol, The Defeated), Mandeep Dhillon (Peacock, Avoidance), and Jasmine Jobson (Top Boy, Surge).
The new series, not to be confused with Mob Land, the 2023 film starring John Travolta, is created by Ronan Bennett. Guy Ritchie is confirmed to direct some episodes with the noted director also co-executive producing the show alongside Bennett, Hardy, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Ivan Atkinson, Keith Cox, Nina L. Diaz, Jez Butterworth, and Kris Thykier.
