The new Mean Girls movie will feature the same plot and characters, only this time there’s a lot of singing. Just like the Broadway show, Cady’s voiceover will instead become songs, as well as everyone in the film who has something fetch to say.

Apart from the film being a musical with plenty of singing and dancing, there’s bound to be major changes in the new Mean Girls film, seeing that the story is set in 2024. High school is much different now (bye three-way phone calls, hello social media) and everything that comes with it, including dating, bullying, and even friendships.

While 2024’s Mean Girls will showcase a different main cast, we can expect some familiar faces returning: Tina Fey reprises her role as Ms. Norbury, who still teaches Calculus at North Shore High School, while Tim Meadows is also back as Principal Duvall.

Directed by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr., the new film is written by Fey, based on the Broadway musical by Jeff Richmond, Nell Benjamin, and also Fey. Producer of the original film Lorne Michaels still serves as the new musical film’s producer alongside Fey.
